The Veterans Health Administration monitor is the Medical Care block of the VA department kernel, carried as its own view so the figures never drift from /va. Everything below resolves to a public source; nothing is estimated.
How it reconciles
Reconciled to the dollar.The four Medical Care accounts — Medical Services, Medical Community Care, Medical Support & Compliance, and Medical Facilities — are summed in each fiscal column and checked against the published “Subtotal, Medical Care” from the VA Budget-in-Brief. Any gap beyond ±$1M independent-rounding throws the build; a benign ±$1M is flagged, never absorbed.
Advance appropriations, surfaced. VA Medical Care is enacted one fiscal year ahead (P.L. 111-81), so care is insulated from a lapse in the annual process. The FY2028 Medical Care advance request is carried on the overview.
Kept separate.The Medical Care Collections Fund (a collection) and the VHA-adjacent accounts (Medical & Prosthetic Research, EHR Modernization) are shown as their own lines — never folded into the Medical Care subtotal.
Audited within VA.VHA has no standalone audited statements; it is audited inside VA's consolidated financial statements, which have earned 27 consecutive clean opinions with material weaknesses noted.
